Thyme is a small, woody, aromatic perennial of the mint family native to southern Europe. It forms a low bush of tiny grey-green leaves and pale pink or lilac flowers, and is grown as a culinary herb, including in cooler regions of India.
Thyme is not a classical Ayurvedic herb, but its leaves are used in modern herbal practice in warming teas and aromatic preparations that support the respiratory system, and in cooking as a spice. The leaf is the part used.
