The white fig is a large, semi-deciduous fig tree with smooth leaves and small fruits that turn white or pinkish when ripe. It grows in tropical and subtropical regions of India, the Himalayas and Southeast Asia, and is often planted for shade.
Known in Sanskrit as Plaksha, its bark is one of the five barks of the classical Panchavalkala group in Ayurveda. It is traditionally used in skin-care washes and pastes.
