Siris is a large deciduous tree of the legume family, native to the Indian subcontinent, with feathery leaves and fragrant, powder-puff flowers of greenish-white stamens. Its long papery pods rattle in the wind, giving it the name woman's tongue tree.

In Ayurveda it is known as Shirisha and is described in classical texts as a key herb for skin and seasonal wellness. The bark, flower and seed have traditionally been used in preparations for skin care and respiratory comfort.
