Spearmint is a spreading perennial herb with bright green, wrinkled, spear-shaped leaves and a cool, sweet aroma. It is native to Europe and temperate Asia and is grown in kitchen gardens across India, where it is known as pudina.
The fresh leaf is widely used in Indian food and in traditional household and Ayurvedic preparations for digestive comfort. Its refreshing flavour also makes it a common ingredient in mouth-care products and herbal drinks.
