Wild jack, or anjili, is a tall evergreen tree native to India, found mainly in Kerala and in the moist forests of Karnataka, Maharashtra and Tamil Nadu. It bears small, spiky, orange-fleshed fruits, and its timber is prized for boat-building.
In Kerala practice it is used as a source of Lakucha. Its bark and fruit are traditionally included in skin-care pastes and folk preparations, and the ripe fruit is eaten as a snack.
