Yellow bhringraj is a creeping perennial herb of the daisy family found in moist places across India, China and Southeast Asia, including Kerala. It has rough, slightly fleshy paired leaves and bright yellow flower heads, and it tolerates drought and poor soil.
Called Pitabhringaraja in Sanskrit and Manjakkayyonni in Malayalam, it is used in Ayurvedic and folk practice much like Bhringraj, especially in herbal hair oils and preparations for hair and skin care. The whole plant is used.
