Launaea sarmentosa is a low perennial herb of the daisy family that grows on sandy coastal ground along the shores of eastern Africa, India, Sri Lanka and Southeast Asia, including Kerala. It forms rosettes of lobed leaves and spreads by long runners, with small yellow dandelion-like flowers.
Some Launaea species are considered sources of Gojihva in Ayurveda. In coastal folk practice the plant is used in traditional preparations, including cooling applications for skin care. The whole plant is used.
