Cymbopogon jwarancusa is an aromatic perennial grass growing up to about one and a half metres, with narrow leaves and a strong lemony scent. It grows in dry regions from Turkey through Pakistan and north-western India to China.
Its Sanskrit name Jvarankusha links it to fever in traditional practice. The whole plant has traditionally been used in aromatic decoctions for general wellness, and its oil in perfumery.
